Daniel Allen

“Beloved Son, Brother, & Friend to Many”

Our educational initiative is named in honor of Daniel Allen, co-founder Mary Allen's son, who passed away unexpectedly in 2019 at the age of 27. Daniel, in the words of the many who knew him, was the kindest person they have ever known. He cared deeply for others, and was always the one his friends would reach out to for help in their times of need. His compassion extended past family and friends to neighbors, teachers, college professors, co-workers, and many others.

Daniel was also a gifted musician and songwriter, graduating with his performance degree from from Belmont University in Nashville where he stayed for a while and spent time writing songs, performing, and recording music. Although he continued to enjoy creating music, Daniel decided to embark on a new career path, the path to becoming a school psychologist. It was no surprise to learn that he had decided to specialize in helping children living with emotional challenges and adolescents struggling with thoughts of suicide. It was during his time in graduate school that Daniel passed away. His loss continues to be unimaginable, and he is deeply missed.

Now, Cure Brain Disease is honoring Daniel by following his lead. Our goal is to bring about change in our schools' mental health educational programs so that All children may be reached, including the one in five living with mental health conditions. This means we must teach our children not only about mental health, but about mental health 'conditions'. Our children need to learn what these conditions are and what they are not. By demystifying these 'real' conditions, which are biological in nature, we hope to normalize the conversations surrounding them, and as a result, reduce stigma.

Daniel's kindness and compassion has touched many lives, and those who've had the good fortune of knowing him will be forever changed for the better. His light continues to shine, and will forever. Please join us in our efforts to make the world a better place by Following Daniel’s Lead.                                                                                                                 "Mary Allen - Daniel's Mom"
